使用短效口服避孕药时间超过5年或以上的女性比从未使用过的女性患宫颈癌的风险更高。女性使用短效口服避孕药的时间越长，患宫颈癌的风险增加越大。
研究发现，服用时间不足5年的女性，其患宫颈癌的风险提升10%；服用5~9年的，风险提升60%；服用超过10年或以上的，风险增加一倍。当停止服用短效口服避孕药后，宫颈癌的风险会随着时间的推移而下降
